On Friday and Saturday 14th and 15th May 2010 the 6th BISA Training Day was hosted by the Music Department and The Borthwick Institute For Archives, University of York.
The first paper of the day's proceedings described the on-going work at Tobar an Dualchais/ Kist o Riches; the structure of the project, their new website and the development of a new private digitisation enterprise. The second paper outlined how the BBC are attempting to engage with audiences in the north of England and how archival collections are being used as part of this strategy. The third paper described how Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann have engaged their 40,000+ membership in helping them describe their traditional music content. The fourth paper detailed the publication of a regional accent and dialogue CD by the Essex Sound and Video Archive (part of the Essex Record Office) from idea to commercial partnership and publicity. The final paper gave an insight into the development and use of the music archive in York University.
