Holdings:
Our audio holdings consist entirely of oral history recordings, which have been collected by the Archive Service over the past four decades. Recordings of the reminiscences of local residents were made by various individuals, local history societies and consortia, from the 1970s to the present day. The majority are in English, but some are in Welsh and a smaller number in Chinese.
Of the approximately 250 recordings we hold, around 50% were recorded on reel-to-reel tapes, 45% on cassette and the remaining 5% on digital media. All have been digitised and are made available in MP3 format.
The recordings are accessible on PC in the searchroom, and there is an interactive index to facilitate access.
